Meanwhile, the foundation stone of the New Site was laid by Late Chief Bola Ige the Former Governor of Old Oyo- State in 1980s. Thus, during the tenure of Alh Lamidi Adesina as Governor of Oyo State, the Market was renamed after Chief Bola Ige. Then becoming "Bola Ige International Market".
